I never really knew what I was going to be when I grew up and I am finding that is because I had never heard of anybody doing what I am now doing as I grow up. After I got saved during my senior year of High School I knew I wanted to give my life fully to missions. I set out for college to receive training in media production with the intent of joining a missions organization after I graduated and serving in that way. The goal in my heart was to impact the nations of the earth for Jesus. God had the same goal in mind but He had a different path for me to follow to make that happen.

After my first semester in college I came to the annual onething conference here in Kansas City and was gripped with the call to a life of prayer, fasting, and intimacy with Jesus. During that conference I decided to pull out of college for a season and do IHOP’s six month “Onething” young adult internship. My goals had not changed but I knew if I was going to be successful as a college student and one day as a missionary I needed to make some big changes in my pursuit of Jesus. During the internship I grew in understanding the call to intercessory missions and was stunned by the reality that God was legitimately calling people to give themselves fully to worship, corporate prayer, fasting and the Word as a way to serve Him and His purposes for the nations of the earth.

After the internship was over I still did not know If I wanted to return to college or join IHOP staff. Considering the financial investment that college is I decided to continue at IHOP for another season to get more clarity about what the Lord was calling me to do for life. It was in this next season that I grew to understand that being and intercessory missionary is what I am called to for life. It finally connected in my heart that my desire to impact the nations for Jesus was to be walked out primarily in the place of prayer and fasting. Impact is still such a driving force within me. I long to see this nation and the nations of the world impacted and changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and I believe that giving my life to intercessory missions is a critical part in seeing that happen.
